Larsen Lake House

Guide Book

Kitchen

  • There is a kitchen map printed out in the guest manual at the house and is visualized below.

  • Drawers and cupboards are labeled to help you locate items you need. Kindly return items to appropriate drawers for future guests.

  • Dish washing soap for sink washing is located in pumper and dishwasher detergent pods are located under the kitchen sink.

  • Kitchen trash bags can be found under sink. There are larger trash bins in the garage for storing trash (in bags) until you can dispose of bags at the Big Bass Lake trash center.

Grill

  • Grill can be found on the back deck.

  • Grill tools are in one of the drawers in the kitchen.

  • There is a grill scraper brush in under cabinet of grill.

  • Gas tank for grill can be found under the deck.

Preparing Grill for Use:

  1. Uncover grill

  2. Pull grill away from railing by at least 12 inches.

  3. Open grill lid

  4. Make sure all burners are OFF

  5. Turn ON gas line using GREEN valve located on top of the tank. DO NOT TURN THE YELLOW VALVE ON THE TANK.

  6. Turn on the left-most burner and depress the ignition button until the burner ignites. Repeat for subsequent burners.

  7. Adjust burner levels to high.

  8. Close grill lid and allow to warm-up. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge located on top of the grill. Do not allow temp to climb above 500º.

  9. Use the grill scraper/brush to remove char from grates.

  10. Once desired temperature has been reached, you are good to grill!

While Grilling:

  • Lightly oil you food (not the grates)

  • Place food on hot grates (food sticks to cool grates)

  • Close the lid to trap heat & cook food more evenly

  • Flip only once, when food releases easily

  • Watch for flare-ups and move food if needed.

After Grill Use:

  1. Scrape/Brush grill grates while burners are still on.

  2. Turn OFF all burners

  3. Turn OFF gas line using the GREEN valve

  4. Close grill and burner lids

  5. WAIT FOR GRILL TO COOL

  6. Replace grill cover

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

1. Lighting the grill with the lid closed
→ This traps gas and can cause a fireball. Always open the lid first!

2. Skipping preheating
→ Food sticks, cooks unevenly, and misses out on that sear.

3. Using too much oil or spraying directly onto flames
→ Big flare-ups, burnt food, and possible singed eyebrows.

4. Over-flipping
→ Let the grill do its thing. Flipping too often leads to dry, unevenly cooked food.

5. Pressing down on burgers with a spatula
→ It squeezes out juices. Resist the urge!

6. Undercooking or overcooking meat
→ Invest in a $10 thermometer and take the guesswork out.

7. Leaving the grill unattended
→ Even just for a minute — things go from “almost done” to “on fire” real quick.

8. Not cleaning the grates before or after
→ Old grease and bits will make your food taste funky and can start fires.
